TO SAVE OUR FUTURE SUPPLY

Plant a tree, make a differenceThe Figaro Coffee Company, known for using locally grown coffee in their coffee shops, and the Figaro Foundation Corporation invite all its loyal Figaro Coffee Club Members to the Plant A Tree, Make A Difference event on September 26th. Coffee tree seedlings will be planted in its effort to strengthen future sources of local coffee, “especially what we enjoy in Figaro’s coffee shops”, says Ms. Manna Marie Leaño, marketing assistant for Figaro. This move will not only intensify future sources of coffee beans but also the growing Philippine coffee industry and secure the livelihood of our local coffee farmers.

In the first quarter of this year, Figaro embarked on its Harvest Tour 2009 on a five-hectare farm of coffee and calamansi in South Tagaytay where some 30 Figaro coffee club members were toured and introduced to the harvest and post-harvest procedures in coffee farming.

For the “Plant A Tree, Make A Difference” experience, registration fee is at Php 900, where it will cover expenditures for transportation and food — light breakfast, lunch and bottled drinks. Participants will also take home free event T-shirts. For inquiries, you may call Ms. Joy Sarmiento or Ms. Manna Marie Leaño at numbers 635-0547 loc. 109.

Meanwhile, the National Coffee Development Board (NCDB) is also promoting re-planting of coffee nationwide and is coming up with a Coffee Festival in Manila this October.
