A man paints with his brains and not with his hands.  ~ Michaelangelo (1474-1564), Italian Renaissance Painter, Sculptor.

Blurb: “What are you really doing whenever you drink coffee? The simple act of brewing your morning cup can have unimaginable consequences. Open your mind and awaken your senses to the possibilities as you indulge in this bold concoction of a novel by Iris Orpi, with 20 original artworks rendered in coffee by the painter Sunshine Plata.

“Follow the adventures of Angela as she chronicles her pursuit of the next caffeine fix on her blog, capturing vivid snapshots of city life and insights into the coffee drinking culture. Witness the miraculous ways in which her love affair with coffee changes her life and those of the people around her, and ultimately lets her participate in the act of fulfilling destiny…

“Mixing the poetry of everyday reality with metaphysical speculations about life and the passage of time, ‘The Espresso Effect’ gives a whimsical, caffeine-charged look at the world, and maintains the faith that true love always deserves a second chance.”

For coffee lovers by coffee lovers. One great coffee experience after another, ‘The Espresso Effect’ combines poetry, prose and painting —all under the influence of that aromatic weaver of tales on the table— and covers years of interwoven experiences of its contributors (Iris Orpi and yours truly).

Launch date is on Sept. 23, Thursday, 6:00 to 11:00 pm, at Bo’s Coffee place, at the Bonifacio High Street in Fort Bonifacio. Let us know if you want to come so we may include you in the count. Click on the link on the sidebar and you’ll be off to the events site on Facebook. I would love to see you all there and have that great coffee experience, differently.

There will also be autograph-signing during the event, so don’t miss it. And yes, coffee, delicious coffee —like nothing you’ve ever tasted before— will be served!

Book price: Php 800 on launch day and Php 900 from bookstore shelves.

(Sneak peek on the book on the next update.)
