Year-End Wrap with Season’s Brew

Fine art, that exists for itself alone, is art in a final state of impotence. If nobody, including the artist, acknowledges art as a means of knowing the world, then art is relegated to a kind of rumpus room of the mind and the irresponsibility of the artist and the irrelevance of art to actual living becomes part and parcel of the practice of art. ~ Angela Carter (1940–1992), British author “Polemical Preface,” The Sadeian Woman (1979).

LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD

*

After a bit of contemplation as to where I would hold another show to mark the end of last year, I decided for a go at the Cordillera Coffee shop situated at the Riverbanks Mall in Marikina instead. It was something I had to try or explore despite the fact that there really was very little time to prepare and the collection I had was quite a few — thirteen! Besides, the café offers a different brew as their beans come from the Cordillera highlands by Cordillera coffee farm hands.

Featured there on the show were some items from the previous exhibit and some new ones on frame. It lasted a week and I am truly thankful to those who came by. Here are some photos during that event.

Deep thanks also goes to the husband and wife team of Mr. & Mrs. Frank & Gae Young, owners of the Cordillera Coffee shop, for giving me space to show my paintings.
